Building Acoustics
Building Acoustics relates to the design and testing of buildings to ensure a high quality internal noise environment.
The two most common noise problems experienced within buildings are excessive reverberation and noise transfer. Both of these problems can result in speech intelligibility issues, increased overall noise levels and issues with privacy. For both of these problems Surface have experience in:
- Working with architects pre construction to ensure reverberation and noise transfer will meet relevant guidance
- The investigation and measurement of reverberation and noise transfer in existing buildings
- Specifying acoustic panels, silencers and partitions to reduce the effect of reverberation and noise transfer
Surface has experience in the acoustic design of many types of internal areas, for example:
- Open Plan Offices
- Noisy Restaurants and Bars
- Music and Drama Performance Spaces
- Schools
- Community Halls
- Places of Worship
- Sports Facilities
