Services: Drainage Strategy and Infiltration Testing
Project Overview/ Summary: Surface was commissioned to undertake a Drainage Strategy for the demolition of an existing automotive garage and erection of two dwellings at Stillingfleet Service Station near York. Surface oversaw infiltration testing to the BRE Digest 365 standard to inform whether soakaways were a feasible disposal option in accordance with the SuDS Manual and Building Standards hierarchies. Through dye tracing, an existing drainage connection to a watercourse was established and deemed suitable for re-use.
Surface also calculated the daily foul volume required to be treated and disposed of via a package treatment system.
Selby District Council granted planning permission for the development, adopting recommendations from the Drainage Strategy.
