St Martins Way Kirklevington, Yarm
Project Overview/ Summary: Land West Of St Martins Way Kirklevington, Yarm
Client: Banks Property (Durham)
Appeal Decision Granted with Help from Surface.
Surface undertook breeding bird surveys and bat activity surveys on the site in 2017 to supplement earlier ecology work undertaken by another consultancy. The survey work focussed on the implications the proposal may have on hedgerows and grassland habitats within the site to advise on the scheme layout with the planners at Banks Property (Durham). Mitigation was provided through the provision of public open space within the site which also has wider recreational benefits to Kirklevington, therefore providing additional positive impact without unwarranted costs.
The findings and survey work supported the successful appeal and Stockton-on-Tees’ Council Officer concluded that the development would not have an adverse impact upon ecology and biodiversity.
