Peak District Transport Design guide

Client: Peak District National Park Authority

Services: Planning; Transport and Access; Landscape; Historic Environment; Strategic Environmental Assessment

Special Considerations: Local planning regulations; Statutory purposes and special qualities of a National Park.

Project Overview/ Summary:

The design of transport infrastructure in the Peak District National Park is carried out by a number of separate transport bodies, which can result in an uncoordinated approach based on rigid standards that does not reflect the statutory purposes and special qualities of the National Park.

Delivered through our parent company we produced a Transport Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document. It is intended the document will be used as a material consideration in determining planning applications and, more broadly, in transport infrastructure design. Our approach has been to ensure that a document is produced to meet local planning and Strategic Environmental Assessment regulations, so it can be adopted for planning purposes. The document also follows a landscape and historic environment approach, so that transport infrastructure reflects the special qualities of the National Park.
