James is from Lenzie, just outside Glasgow, and attended the University of Edinburgh where he studied Zoology. After graduating, James developed his ecological field skills through training and working as an ecologist with the Alderney Wildlife Trust and the Scottish Wildlife Trust. Since then, James has worked as a consultant ecologist on a diverse range of projects across Scotland undertaking a myriad of surveys including those for birds, protected mammals and plants. He has also worked extensively as an environmental clerk of works, advising on a wide range of environmental issues on a major grid infrastructure project in the north of Scotland.
In his spare time James enjoys combining his passions of travel and wildlife by visiting top nature destinations across the globe. When not on an adventure he can be found watching films or playing badminton and board games.
