Guy Cope

Photography & Visualisation Consultant
BTEC National Certificate in Business & Finance
20+ years experience

Guy was born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. He studied at Harrogate College of Arts & Technology before moving to Florida, USA for two years where he worked within a family sports supply business. On returning to the UK he embarked upon a successful career in sales and marketing within the oil industry working for both Conoco and Castrol.

Throughout his life he has had a keen interest in photography culminating in him leaving his sales career and going freelance as a professional photographer in 2003. In 2007, Guy was official photographer for the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, widely regarded as the best domestic motorcycle racing championship in the world. He has a keen eye for detail and carries this ethos into most tasks he undertakes. He is a member of the Nikon Professional scheme.

At Surface, Guy is responsible for creating the verified photomontages used within the many planning documents that we produce. He undertakes the on-site viewpoint photography and once back in the office, turns these images into 2D and 3D visualisations that help stakeholders see what a development may look like once complete.

Guy enjoys travelling and socialising with friends/family. His camera accompanies him on most travels. He likes to ride motorbikes, mountain bikes (two aspects that form some of his travels) and plays football. He also owns two tropical tortoises that will probably outlive him, but he says he has better skin (at the moment).
