Gemma holds a Natural England protected species survey licence for great crested newt (Level 1), and is working towards her survey licence for hazel dormice (Level 1). During her professional ecological career Gemma has worked across a variety of disciplines including highways, residential, commercial and public development. Gemma is experienced in surveying for the following protected species; bats, badgers, dormice, great crested newts, otters, reptiles and water voles. Gemma has also carried out translocation work for reptiles and amphibians, and has provided ECoW for construction projects in the highways and residential sectors.
In her spare time Gemma enjoys spending time with family and friends. Gemma loves wildlife and travel and likes to combine the two, examples include volunteering on a project monitoring leatherback turtles in Granada and working at an elephant/dog/cat rescue centre in Thailand, or just visiting places to see the wildlife, not forgetting destinations closer to home in the UK. Gemma and her partner have two rescue dogs who they love to bits and who keep them fit! Gemma is a member of the Kent Mammal Group, the Mammal Society and volunteers for the Kent Wildlife Trust.
